The path of the righteous is like the first gleam of dawn, shining ever brighter till the full light of day. But the way of the wicked is like deep darkness; they do not know what makes them stumble. Proverbs 4:18-19 (NIV)
These two verses paint an amazing picture. The lost person stumbles through life not seeing what causes him to fall. The path is complete and utter darkness. That person has no hope of a future after death; they have no great reason for life. Their life is all vanity. This is life without Christ.
The saved person’s path in life is completely different. As they go through life God continues to reveal himself to them. Their path becomes ever brighter, ever clearer. They see the small hinderances in their path and step over them. They are more than conquerors. They have a bright hope and future and have complete joy in abiding in Christ. Each day God is revealed more to them, until that glorious day when when we shall see him face to face.
If we truly realized what peace and joy comes from being in Christ we would never want to follow those who are walking toward destruction. That path is a dark and lonely path filled with despair, pain, and ultimately destruction. Our path is beautiful, full of hope, peace, and joy, even in trials.
